A Grand Opening, It Was…
Since opening my first business in 1996, there’s never been a shortage of noteworthy serendipity - like the local newspaper calling “out of the blue” to feature this endeavor in the newspaper.
Like a restaurateur-client of 24 years, turned local politician/Lake Oswego Mayor offering to sponsor the food, since he had too many vacations in three restaurants to offer the catering. (Thank you, Mayor/Restaurateur Joe Buck - Cathy Geraths put your contribution to great use in a way that might’ve been served at Gubancs, Babica Hen or Lola’s.)
Like the change in weather, dropping about 15 degrees - to the point that we didn’t have to put up intended tents for shade.
Attendees included long-time friends and Studio B Photography clients, to art enthusiasts of featured artists Graham Salisbury (SalisburyPaintigs.art) and Jackie Maxwell and her fine art Photography (COMING SOON to our site). Several board members from our event beneficiary - Arts Council of Lake Oswego were in attendance to support our celebration. Like the cobblers kids have no shoes, do you think the photographer thought to hire one to shoot when the crowds were here?.. HA, next time, this was just a soft opening anyway.
The artisan Spirits of Ewing Young Distillery’s were a great addition to the evening, especially the intriguing tale of Ewing Young’s role in Oregon’s history. Looking for a weekend outing in Oregon’s wine country, Be sure to visit their 50-acre farm (18715 NE Highway 240 - Newberg OR 97132) to try their Rye, Gin, Bourbon’s & Vodka - clearly worthy of their award-winning collection!
The steady flow of visitors was perfect-enough that we had time to mingle and meet many new people in our community. Personally, it was an honor to unveil the baby step toward a vision that has been stewing in my since I moved to Portland in 1986, with one goal in mind, to present my Limited Edition Photography in the medium and manner that I felt it deserved. Not only in a gallery setting, but with the modern flare of technical interactions - QR codes that you simply scan with your phone to have all pricing and options in your palm, to bookmark and take home to see how well it will look in your home. (you can even send us a photo of your home wall so we can simulate your selections to scale before purchase!)
Of course the photographer didn’t think to higher a photographer, but I did manage to snap a few of the amazing fare that my incredible “Kiwi Butterfly Cath" put together. Don’t worry Joe, she has no desire to compete with you, but made great use of your contribution!
